Course Structure

Course Overview:
As one of the courses in the graphic design major sequence, Time-Based Media: Motion and Infographics course will introduce the student to the use of the computer as a creative tool in the creation of motion graphics. Students will experiment with notions of form, function & visual communication as related to the exploration of media applications. Students will compose & graphically articulate conceptual solutions to given problems & measure the effectiveness of solutions based on client/problem & or creative/strategic needs. We will focus on the general ideas of sequential storytelling, timing, editing, emphasis, thematic development, & basic interactivity.
Course Learning Outcomes:
• Understanding of the “Adobe After Effects” software and the workflow.
• Understanding of interpolation types of spatial and temporal key frames.
• Understanding the connection between adobe Photoshop and Adobe after Effects.
• Capability of manipulating a video from scratch.
• Capability of creating a simple animation in a 2.5D space
